City of Edinburg hosting South Texas Junior Boxing Olympics this weekend
The 2025 South Texas Junior Boxing Olympics are being held in Edinburg starting this Friday and concluding on Sunday.
Over 400 boxers from Austinn, San Antonio, and the Rio Grande Valley among other locations will be competing.
The champions from this event will qualify for nationals.
City of Edinburg assistant director of parks & recreation Eric Molina, a former decorated heavyweight boxer, is among those leading the charge in organizing the event.
"It's a really big special thing for our community," Molina said. "This is the largest, regional tournament in the United States of America here. We have 265 boxing matches, seeing the youth walk out in this crowd and this atmosphere that we've put together here with the city. Just seeing their face and them remembering that they got an opportunity to box here with the city of Edinburg here at this facility, I think that's what it's all about here for us."
Tickets are available at the Edinburg Parks and Recreation department. Single day tickets are selling for $12 dollars with a three-day pass for $25 dollars.
