UTRGV men's basketball defeats Lamar for first conference win of the season

The UTRGV Vaqueros took down Lamar 83-72 in their second conference game of the season on Tuesday night.
The Vaqueros were led by Filip Brankovic and Marvin McGhee III who dropped 18 points each in the victory. Koree Cotten and Julien Gomez also finished in double figures as UTRGV’s offense shined.
The Vaqueros shot 14/25 from three on the night, an impressive 56% from deep including 75% in the first half.
“The basket felt big for us,” McGhee III said after the game. “We were just finding each other, making the right plays. Coach (Fennell) emphasized making the extra pass to the guys, so we did that today and the result is big for us.”
The Vaqueros return to Edinburg on Friday for their final non-conference game of the season against the College of Biblical Studies. They return to conference play on December 29 against New Orleans.
