Man charged with intoxication manslaughter following deadly South Padre Island crash
A South Padre Island man was charged with intoxication manslaughter following a deadly two-vehicle crash, according to police.
David Rivera was charged following a crash that happened on Saturday, Aug. 9 shortly before 2:15 a.m., according to an incident report obtained by Channel 5 News.
According to the report, South Padre Island police officers responded to a two-vehicle crash at the 5600 block of Padre Boulevard'
“Upon officers' arrival they observed a major two vehicle crash with multiple subjects injured,” the report stated. "The subjects injured from the crash were transported to a local hospital. After officers' investigation, the male driver was placed under arrest for intoxication assault.”
The report indicates that Rivera’s charge was upgraded to intoxication manslaughter with a vehicle, but police did not identify the victim. Bond information for Rivera was not available.
Rivera did not appear on a search of Cameron County’s inmate list.
