UTRGV unveils new manufacturing research facility

A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held Monday for The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley’s new advanced manufacturing research facility in Edinburg.

The state-of-the-art center is set to become a regional hub for applied research and innovation in advanced manufacturing, energy systems, national defense and emerging technologies essential to workforce training and economic development, according to a news release.

According to the release, the facility will provide advanced research infrastructure to support collaborative projects and enhance hands-on student engagement. 

“The facility aims to bolster UTRGV’s commitment to cultivating a skilled workforce and driving economic growth across the region,” the news release added. “Focusing on fusion energy, advanced materials, additive manufacturing, semiconductor processes and digital engineering, AMRF is set to transform the field of advanced manufacturing and address critical national priority areas.”
