Harlingen's Alana Rouqette broke the Valley record in the 6A girls 300 meter hurdles. A record that stood for over a decade.
"Regional finals has always been in my mind that I would perform my best when it mattered and I just had all my trust in God that I would and I did," said Rouqette.
"I'm very proud, you know she has gone through a lot to get here," said Harlingen head track coach Hickel Woolery.
Rouqette secured her first career State bid. The cardinal will be headed to Austin for her first shot at a State medal.
"I mean it's just one race so I have to give it my all," said the Regional Champion.
Rouqette's high school track career doesn't stop here. She'll be taking her talents to the next level at Stephen F. Austin.
"Right now her confidence is sky high and I think that's one reason she's going to keep doing well and when she goes to college she knows she belongs, because now she's running those faster times and she's the best in the valley history ever," said coach Woolery.
